How to make the Writer's Workbench Toolbar available whenever
Word is invoked
| This entry was inspired by a
request from Dr. Kit Nip of Iowa Wesleyan College (Thanks Kit!) Please
feel free to call our direct support number (630) 548-4219 if you have
problems with or questions about this procedure.
This procedure is available for WWB 8.5 (June, 2011 release).
To upgrade to that release,
Click Here for US customer or
Here for non-US customer.
- Start Microsoft Word (Start, Programs, Microsoft Word or through the
desktop shortcut)
- Word 2003 and earlier:
- Pull down Tools, Options, File Locations;
modify "Startup" to point
to "C:\WWB\Startup"
- "OK" your way out of these
dialogs
- Word 2007 / Word 2010:
- Click File (or
Office button) in the upper-left corner
- Click on Options and then
Advanced
- Scroll down to the bottom and click on "File
Locations"
- Modify "Startup" to read "C:\WWB\Startup"
- "OK" your way out of these
dialogs.
- Exit Word
- The desktop shortcut to Writer's Workbench can be deleted, as it will no longer be
necessary
- Start Microsoft Word again (Start, Programs, Microsoft Word or
through a desktop shortcut or double-click on a .doc or .docx
document)
- The Writer's Workbench tools should be loaded now as if you had
invoked Word using the WWB icon
If you would like to make loading Writer's Workbench optional again, point
Word's Startup directory to a different location in Word.
