* Some versions of Microsoft® Works include Microsoft® Word; others do not. Microsoft® WORD (not Works) is required to run Writer's Workbench. To determine if you have Microsoft® Word loaded on your computer, click Start, Programs, and click on the icon and entry for Microsoft1® Word. If Word opens, your system should be fine to run Writer's Workbench. If you cannot find the entry for Microsoft Word, you will need to purchase Microsoft® Word to be able to use Writer's Workbench. Microsoft® Word is included in all current versions of Microsoft® Office.
** Later versions of Microsoft® Windows and Word require more memory and processing power. For example, if you are using Word '97 on a computer running Windows '95 or Windows '98, you can probably get by with a 100 MHz system with 64 MB of RAM. If you are using Word 2000 on a Windows 2000 system, a minimum requirement would be a 200 MHz system with 64 MB of RAM, but 128 MB of RAM is recommended. If you are using Word XP on a Windows XP system, a 300 MHz system with 128MB of RAM would run, but 256 MB of RAM is recommended. Please see Microsoft's requirements pages for details.
